Accepting the Offer Letters???
I know there has been a lot of back and forth about this whenever we have gotten together, but does someone out there have a clear idea of what the best deal is for postdocs?

So we've been talking about this a lot in my office. Some people have even called the hotline, but they've gotten conflicting answers.
Anyway, we've basically come to the consensus that TCP2 is a better deal if you're not intending to stay at LANL. It may even be a better deal if you stay at LANL for less than 15 yrs total. Mostly we made this decision based upon the LANS matching in the 401K plan. Seems like too good of a deal to pass up.
I agree that the TCP2 is better, if you don't plan to stay at the lab or even if you do because you cannot be sure you would get the job so you would be taking a gamble with TCP1 if you are not vested.
