The 2007 AAAS meeting will be in San Francisco and will focus on sustainability. They're now soliciting abstracts, and those selected will present to a general audience.

so is anyone going to this? fran?
i have a semi-scientific interest in the emergence of materials science as a "real" science (e.g. physical metallurgy as opposed to ad hoc empirical metallurgy) and unfortunately i didn't see anything that was a very good fit. eveything on the aaas site seemed to be pretty politically driven, e.g. issues of science leading to technologies to solve problems that are partly of a political nature.
